The Green Horticultural Group recently undertook the major sand track renovation works at Warwick Farm Racecourse, under the supervision of both the ATC and Programmed-Turnpoint Maintenance.
The sand track area is approximately 18,000m2 and is the main training surface for over 600 horses that are stabled in the racecourse precinct.
The scope of works encompassed the following:
Grade and remove approximately 25mm of sand from the track (up to 600 tonne)
Load removed material into tippers and relocate onsite
Import and spread 900-1000 tonnes of HR sand over the entire track
Grade and laser level track to ensure falls and cambers are as per racing requirements
Material was imported during the week prior and works completed in 2 days from commencement. The track was then power harrowed with the end result being a sand track of superior quality and performance.
GHG were fully compliant with the requirements and restrictions of the racing industry and works were undertaken within the time frames of track work and racing demands
