Muswellbrook Racecourse
The Green Horticultural Group were commissioned by Racing NSW and Muswellbrook Race Club (MRC) to undertake track drainage renovation works to ensure that the future of racing at Muswellbrook would be on a much improved surface. The race track has been experiencing sections that were not draining effectively over the course proper for number of years. The major area of concern was from the 300m to the 850m mark; however improvements were extended from the winning post to the 1000m mark to ensure a consistent surface. It was decided by both Racing NSW and Muswellbrook Race Club that extensive renovation works would be required involving sand slit drainage, sand grooving, track aeration and topdressing.
The scope of works included:
- Sand slit drainage using the innovative Mastenbroek system
- Sand grooving from winning post to 1,000m across the inside of the track using the Blec Ground Breaker with the Vibra Sand Master attached to fill in the mini-trenches
- Aeration of track from winning post to 1,000m using the Earthquake Decompactor to offer more ability for water to enter the new drainage system
- Spreading 5 tonnes of Gypsum and 300 tonnes of topdressing using our computerised Unimog spreading vehicles
