The Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre can accommodate a range of track and field events. Built to Olympic and International Accredited Athletic Federation Standards, Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre has hosted the Grand Prix, the Sydney Marathon, the National Championships and the World Junior Championships. During the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games, it was the Warm-Up Arena for the elite athletes of the world. It is also a magnificent multi-purpose venue. It's big and flexible enough to cater for a huge range of events and activities.
Green Horticultural Group were the successful tenderer for the returfing of the Athletics Centre competition arena. Following is a brief on the scope of works undertaken to complete the project:
- Installation of protection for running track.
- Mark all services to prevent damage.
- Removal and disposal of 40mm of existing turf and soil using a Koro Field Topmaker.
- Supply and application of new organic material.
- Blecavate to a depth of 150mm.
- Laser levelling.
- Supply, deliver and laying of 7,905 m2 of Conquest Couch (thin cut).
- Development and execution of additional topdressing and fertilising programme.
Due to the high profile of the venue there were certain requirements that were strictly adhered to during the project. Thanks to our Project Manager (Adam Duryea) for the smooth running of this project and also to SOPAC management and staff for this opportunity.
